In your Gemfile:

gem "factory_girl", :git => "git://github.com/szimek/factory_girl.git", :branch => "rails3"

works fine with Cucumber 0.73

Other suggestions either didn't work for me, or spit out deprecation warnings. This is clean:

gem "factory_girl", "1.2.5.beta1", :git => "git://github.com/thoughtbot/factory_girl.git", :branch => "fixes_for_rails3"

I also had to explicitly specify my factories.rb file, though it's supposed to happen automatically: require File.dirname(__FILE__) + "/factories"

Grab the master the GitHub. Other than some deprecations it works with Rails 3.

gem 'factory_girl', :git => 'git://github.com/thoughtbot/factory_girl.git' works for specs, not managed to make it work with cucumber yet

Similarly to the other folks I've received this: ruby-1.9.1-p378/gems/railties-3.0.0.beta3/lib/rails.rb:43:in `configuration': undefined method `config' for nil:NilClass (NoMethodError)

Got things working thanks to Reu's advice on the Gemfile and I had to move the factories directory (documented that here: http://bit.ly/specgirl3).

Works over git, using rails3 branch
